Retour du Salon du Livre (Porte de Versailles)

Livre-Rare-Book avait un stand pour la quatrième fois sur ce Salon. Nous avons pendant 6 jours expliqué à un large public le travail de Livre-Rare-Book et donc votre travail. Nous avons diffusé vos catalogues (nous avons du reste reçu trop peu de catalogues cette année) et le signet du site. Nous avions fait imprimer l’ensemble des noms des libraires sur des bandeaux qui ornaient le fond du stand. Nous avons rencontré un public accueillant, reconnaissant de notre travail, constructif dans les discussions, ainsi que des professionnels, en particulier de pays étrangers. L’existence de Marelibri souvent remarquée a été précieuse dans nos discussions. Nous avons reçu le concours d’une libraire qui est venue avec nous tenir le stand. Un autre libraire s’est proposé pour nous aider la prochaine fois : les inscriptions sont ouvertes ! Le stand de Livre-Rare-Book est aussi votre stand. C’est un moment passionnant pour rencontrer des utilisateurs du site, des lecteurs. Le stand était très bien placé cette année et très visible. Il est certain qu’il a été vu par des dizaines de milliers de visiteurs. Il est néanmoins très difficile de quantifier les retombées de cette manifestation. Nous pouvons quand même dire que cette manifestation est exceptionnelle pour rencontrer un public attaché aux livres, un public de lecteurs et de professionnels. C’est, malgré toutes les polémiques, un endroit important pour faire connaître LRB au delà du cercle des Bibliophiles qui nous connaissent déjà bien.

Tout cela nous encourage à continuer notre effort. L’outil que nous venons de construire a été apprécié, même si il nous reste encore quelques problèmes à régler. Nous allons dans les prochaines semaines mettre en place beaucoup de nouvelles fonctions : - la personnalisation des réponses du moteur de recherche en fonction de la catégorie recherchée : un affichage approprié des réponses pour la Gravure, le Dessin etc... des images en Haute définition la publication des catalogues sur la première page du site. la publication automatique des évènements la création d’annuaires : Editeurs, Bibliothèques, Associations, etc... avec pour chaque annonce une page personnalisée, qui pourra créer des évènements. etc...

Tous ces outils doivent nous permettre de mettre en valeur les différents aspects du métier de la librairie ancienne, et de respecter et renforcer la personnalité de chacun, ceci au moment même ou d’autres s’efforcent à obliger les libraires à ne devenir que des fournisseurs, à terme pieds et poings liés par contrat.

Nous voulons faire de Livre-Rare-Book un espace ouvert aux métiers du livre.

Mais pour ce faire nous devons absolument faire connaître le site le plus largement possible. Nous sommes donc prêts à discuter de toute forme de partenariat pour travailler ensemble.

Nous avons bien sur aussi du matériel publicitaire que nous pouvons vous envoyer: Autocollants, Bandeaux, Signets.

We are proud to announce that another web site, Ioba.org, joined the Marelibri platform. IOBA (Independent Online Bookseller Association) is an independent association that, like other partners, only offers books coming from professional booksellers. It’s now possible to browse through more than 80 millions books on Marelibri, coming from 10 web sites.

With Ioba Marelibri confirms its place as the biggest site in the world made only by professional booksellers.

La carta a los presidentes de ILAB

Caros colegas, aqui esta la carta que acabamos de mandar a los presidentes de ILAB

Caros presidentes ILAB-LILA

El dia 8 de septiembre a Madrid por la mañana, la asociación Marelibri.com esta convidada à la reunión de los presidentes para hablar de una posible colaboración de ILAB/LILA en el proyecto de Marelibri.

Que es Marelibri?

Marelibri.com es una asociación sin animo de lucro establecida oficialmente en Milano, Italia. Fue fundada por cinco sitios europeos. Dos destos sitios són asociaciones cooperativas, detenidas por grupos de libreros independientes. Són : Nicolás Poyato (Uniliber.com, España) y Christof Schaeffer (Prolibri.de, Alemaña). Los otros tres sitios són pequeñas empresas administradas por dueños que empezaron como libreros profesionales. Són Pascal Chartier (Livre-rare-book.com, Francia), Sergio Malavasi (Maremagnum.com, Italia) y Piet Wesselman (Antiqbook.com, Holanda). Lo que los cinco tienen en comun es que quieren todos dar el mejor servicio à la profesión de librero con precios aceptables. Cada uno de los sitios participantes solo admite libreros profesionales y siguen la condiciones de vienta y el comportamiento de ambos miembros y clientes.

El proyecto de Marelibri

El objectivo de la asociación es de crear un mega-motor de búsqueda, hecho solo por libreros independientes y profesionales y a donde los profesionales todos del mundo pueden estar representados. El sitio quiere aumentar afin de tener el tamaño necesário para competir con qualquier sitio de libro en el internet. Desde Enero de 2008, Marelibri.com ya esta muy funcional y da buenos resultados. Es una herramienta simple y eficiente para la vienta de libros en el mercado internacional. Aunque de momento los miembros sean todos europeos, nuestra politica es de crecer hacia una organización que une los libreros profesionales y independientes del mundo intero (Y ILAB/LILA es muy importante deste punto de vista).

Hacerse Socio

La asociasión Marelibri.com tiene dos categorias de socios : Miembros de pleno derecho y miembros afiliados, (Afiliados pagan menos). En este momento, los miembros de pleno derecho són los cinco miembros fundadores: Des el 1 de Julio, Booksatpbfa.com (Reino Unido) se unió a Marelibri como miembro afiliado. Ahora estamos hablando con Antikvariat.net (Scandinavia), Ioba y Tomfolio (Asociasiones profesionales baseadas en los EU) con el objectivo de afiliarlos dentro de un futuro próximo.

Los socios solo entrán por invitación. Solo los sitios administrados por libreros o asociasiones de libreros con une objectivo claro de apoyar los libreros independientes estarán invitadas. Las grandes impresas comerciales (como Abebooks, Alibris o Amazon) estarán excluidas, principalmente porque aceptan vendedores privados tambien como los libreros profesionales. Los miembros de pleno derecho y los afiliados se encuentran por lo menos una vez por año con el objectivo de hablar de como hacer la promoción del sitio, aprovar las cuentas, etc.

Financiación

Los gastos de Marelibri estan compartidos entre los miembros. El portal Marelibri en si no genera ingresos. Los pedidos todos estan enviados a los vales de pedido de los sitios participantes. Si en el futuro puedemos tener cualquier ingreso (publicidad) solo lo usaremos para pagar los gastos de Marelibri. En este momento, Marelibri no tiene mucho dinero y una parte depende de los servicios voluntarios de los miembros fundadores. Com la expansión de sus miembros, tambien conseguiremos un equilibrio financero. Los gastos principales de Marelibri són para el sitio : dos servidores en Francia; y personal para el mantenimiento de la base de datos y softwares. Si las cuotas de los socios excedieran estas "necesidades básicas", gastaremos en publicidad. Enviaremos un informe económico anual a los miembros todos de Marelibri.

Operaciones

Los que hace la diferencia entre Marelibri y cualquier otro motor de búsqueda es que Marelibri recoge los datos de libros de sus miembros todos dentro de una sola base de datos grande. Una base de datos única ofrece mejores oportunidades para la presentación y la velocidad de búsqueda, y no depende del rendimiento de los sitios participantes. Dentro de un futuro proximo, seremos capables de evitar redundancias de un mismo libro ofrecido por un librero único en varias plataformas. El libro salira solo una vez con los logotipos de las plataformas que lo venden. Asi el cliente pude escojer a donde quiere pedir.

El futuro de Marelibri

El primero objectivo de Marelibri es de crecer hacia un portal de librerias que ofrece una grande selección exhaustiva de libros. Deberia de tener bastante libros dentro de las categorias, temas y lenguas todas para abastecer el publico, los libreros y mismo los archivistas a partir de una única plataforma. Tambien hay un catálogo tematico para hacer búsqueda de otro forma en la base de datos. Proporcionaremos todavía más servicios. Con la cooperación de los participantes todos, vamos à desarollar mejores servicios para los profesionales del libro (blog, varias lenguas, etc.).

Chers Presidents de l'ILAB/LILA Le 8 septembre à Madrid, l'association Marelibri est invitée au matin du meeting des présidents pour discuter d'un partenariat éventuel de ILAB/LILA dans le projet Marelibri.

Qu'est ce que Marelibri ?

Marelibri.com est une association à but non lucratif, établie officiellement à Milan, Italie. Elle a été fondée par cinq sites européens. Deux d'entre eux sont des associations coopératives dirigées par des groupes de libraires indépendants. Ils sont Nicolas Poyato (Uniliber.com, Espagne) et Christoph Schaeffer (Prolibri.de, Allemagne). Les trois autres sont des petites entreprises privées gérée par les propriétaires qui furent eux-même libraires professionnels. Ils sont Pascal Chartier (Livre-rare-book.com, France), Sergio Malavasi (Maremagnum.com, Italie) et Piet Wesselman (Antiqbook.com, Hollande). Ces cinq ont en commun, la volonté de servir le mieux et le plus facilement possible des services la communauté des libraires professionnels pour des tarifs raisonnables. Chacun des sites participant n'accepte que des libraires professionnels et gère les conditions de ventes ainsi que le comportement de leurs membres et de leurs clients.

Le projet Marelibri

Le but de l'association est de réaliser un meta-moteur de recherche fait uniquement par des libraires professionnels indépendants et où tous les professionnels du monde peuvent être représentés. Le portail veut grandir pour avoir une dimension qui permette d'entrer en compétition avec n'importe quel site aujourd'hui sur internet. Depuis janvier 2008, Marelibri est très fonctionnel et donne déjà de bons résultats. C'est un outil simple et efficace pour la vente des livres sur le marché international. Bien que pour le moment tous les membres soient Européens, notre politique est de grandir vers une organisation qui unirait tous les libraires indépendants professionnels du monde (Et ILAB/LILA est spécialement important de ce point de vue).

Devenir Membre

L'association Marelibri.com a deux sortes de membres: les membres à part entière et les membres invités, (les invités paient moins cher). Actuellement les membres à part entière sont les cinq membres fondateurs : depuis le 1er juillet Booksatpbfa.com (Royaume Unis) a rejoint Marelibri en tant que membre invité. Nous sommes en ce moment discussions avec Antikvariat.net (Scandinavie), Ioba et Tomfolio (Associations de professionnels basées aux US) pour les affilier dans un futur proche.

L'adhésion se fait sur invitation. Seuls les sites possédés par des libraires ou des associations de libraires avec un but évident de soutenir les libraires indépendants seront invités. Les grosses compagnies commerciales (comme Abebooks, Alibris ou Amazon) seront exclues, principalement parce qu'ils acceptent aussi des vendeurs particuliers en plus des libraires. Les membres à part entière et les membres affiliés se rencontrent au moins une fois par an pour discuter de la promotion du site, approuver les comptes etc... .

Financement

Les coûts de Marelibri.com sont répartis entre les membres. Le site de Marelibri en soi ne produit pas de bénéfices. Toutes les commandes sont redirigées vers les bons de commande des sites participants. Si dans le futur un bénéfice quelconque devait être généré il ne servira qu'à payer les dépenses de Marelibri (en publicité par exemple) . Actuellement Marelibri est sous-financé et repose pour une part sur le volontariat des cinq membres fondateurs. Avec l'expension des membres, nous obtiendront aussi un équilibre financier. Les principaux coûts de Marelibri.com, sont pour le site lui-même: Deux serveurs en France; et du personnel pour la maintenance de la base de données ainsi que pour les logiciels. Si les cotisations des membres excédaient ces besoins de base de Marelibri, nous dépenserons pour de la publicité. Un rapport financier annuel sera envoyé à tous les membres de Marelibri.

Operations

Ce qui différencie Marelibri.com d'un quelconque autre moteur de recherche classique est que Marelibri regroupe toutes les données livresques de tous les participants dans une seule grosse base de données. Une base de données unique offre de meilleures possibilités de présentation et de vitesse de recherche, et ne dépend pas des performances des sites participants. Dans un futur proche, Marelibri pourra même éviter les répétitions d'un même livre présenté par un seul libraire sur plusieurs sites différents. Il n'y aura plus qu'un résultat de livre avec à côté les logos des différents sites qui le vendent, donnant ainsi au client le choix de choisir où il désire commander.

L'Avenir de Marelibri

Le but premier de Marelibri est de grandir vers un site de Librairie avec un grand choix détaillé de livres. Il devrait y avoir assez de livres dans tous les domaines, thèmes et langues pour approvisionner le grand public, les libraires professionnels ou les archivistes à partir d'une seule et unique plateforme. Il y a également un catalogue de recherche thématique, une manière différente d'accéder à la base de données. D'autres services seront bientôt mis en place. En collaboration avec ltous les participants, le contenu de Marelibri sera développé pour offrir un service meilleur encore aux libraires professionnels (blog, plusieurs langues, etc...)

Conditions d'adhésions à Marelibri

Marelibri est un métamoteur donc seuls des sites professionnels de libraires peuvent adhérer à Marelibri et non pas individuellement des libraires (qui en adhérant à un site membre de Marelibri peuvent de ce fait exposer leurs livres sur Marelibri).

Marelibri est une association à but non lucratif et est actuellement constitué des membres fondateurs suivants :

Il est possible d'adhérer à l'association en tant que membre à part entière et donc de prendre part à toutes les discussions et décisions de l'association.

Il est possible aussi d'être seulement "Ami" de l'association à ce titre de ne pouvoir qu'utiliser le métamoteur Marelibri pour exposer les livres des libraires, mais donc de n'avoir aucun pouvoir de décision. Même si bien sur il est souhaitable de connaître l'opinion des "Amis"

Nous consulter pour les conditions financières d'adhésion.

Dans tous les cas l'adhésion des Membres à part entière ou Amis se fait uniquement par cooptation. Nous examinerons attentivement toute candidature de sites professionnels (dont le but premier n'est pas le profit) dont le but affirmé est la défense de l'identité des libraires et la promotion de la profession excluant les non professionnels et s'engageant clairement dans cette perspective.

The letter to the ILAb's presidents

Dear ILAB-LILA presidents

In Madrid, on September 8, the Association Marelibri.com is invited during the presidents' meeting in the morning, to discuss a possible partnership of ILAB/LILA in the Marelibri project.

What is Marelibri ?

Marelibri.com is a non-profit organization, formally established in Milan Italy. It has been founded by five European sites. Two of these are cooperative associations, owned by a group of independent booksellers, the three others are small private companies, driven by owners who started themselves as professional booksellers. They are Pascal Chartier (Livre-rare-book.com, France), Sergio Malavasi (Maremagnum.com, Italy) and Piet Wesselman (Antiqbook.com, The Netherlands). What all five have in common is a strong wish to serve the professional bookselling community, by providing good and friendly services for acceptable rates. Each of the participating sites accepts only professional booksellers and monitors their customers' or members' sales conditions and behaviour.

Marelibri Project

The aim of the Association is to realize a mega-search engine, made by independent professional booksellers only, where all professionals of the world can be represented. The site wants to achieve dimensions big enough to compete with any site now on the Internet. Since January 2008 Marelibri.com is fully functional and already well performing, a simple and efficient tool for the sale of books on the international market. Although at present all members are European, our policy is to grow towards an organization that unites all independent professional booksellers of the world (and ILAB/LILA is expecially important from this point of view).

Membership

The Association Marelibri.com has two kinds of membership: full members and affiliate members, (affiliate pay less). Presently full members are the five founding members: since July 1st Booksatpbfa.com (United Kingdom) joined Marelibri as an affiliate member: we are now talking with Antikvariat.net (Scandinavia), Ioba and Tomfolio (US based professional associations) in order to affiliate them in the near future.

Membership is by invitation. Only websites owned by booksellers or bookseller associations, with the clear aim to support independent booksellers, will be invited. Big commercial companies (like Abebooks, Alibris or Amazon) will be excluded, mainly because they accept private vendors as well as professional booksellers. Full member and affiliate members meet at least once in a year in order to discuss how to promote the site, approve balance, etc.

Financing

Costs of Marelibri are shared among its members. The Marelibri website itself does not generate income. All orders are forwarded to the order forms of the participating websites. If in the future some form of income can be generated (e.g. advertising) this will only serve to pay for Marelibri's costs. Presently Marelibri is underfinanced and in part relies on services voluntarily delivered by the founding members. With the expansion of its membership we will also obtain a financial balance. Marelibri's main costs are for the website: two servers stationed in France; and staff for database maintenance and software. If income from membership fees should exceed these 'basic needs' Marelibri will spend some on advertising. An annual financial report will be extended to all members of Marelibri.

Operations

What differentates Marelibri's database and search facilities from so-called metasearch engines is that Marelibri gathers all book data fom its participants into one large database. A unique database offers better opportunities for presentation and speed, and does not rely on the performance of the participating sites. In the near future Marelibri will be able to avoid any repetition of the records of a book which a single bookseller is presenting on various platforms. It will only show the volume once alongside the logos of the various platforms, giving the customer a free choice of where he wants to order it from.

Marelibri's future

Marelibri's first goal is to grow to a bookselling website with a large, comprehensive offer of books. It should have enough books in all ranges, subjects and languages to provide a one-stop shop for the book buying public and the professional librarian or archivist. There is a Thesaurus - a presentation of books by subject - to enable an attractive way of accessing the database. Additional services will be provided. In cooperation with all participants content will be developed to provide better services for the professional bookseller (blog, several languages, etc.).

Requirements for membership to Marelibri

Marelibri is a search engine, which means only professional booksellers sites may join to Marelibri, but not booksellers individually (but if they join one of the member site, they can therefore have their books on Marelibri).

Marelibri is a non-profit association and so far it is constituted by the following member sites:

Antiqbook.com Livre-Rare-Book.com Maremagnum.com Prolibri.de Uniliber.com

You may join the association as a full member and therefore take part in all discussions and decisions of the association.

You may also join as an association's "friend" only, and then use the Marelibri search engine to exhibit the bookseller's books, but you won't have any decision's power. Even though it is of course important to have the "friends" opinion.

Please consult us for the financial conditions to membership.

In any case, full members or friend's subscriptions are only made by cooptation. We'll consider carefully any application coming from a professional site (that hasn't got profit as first aim) that has a clear aim to defend bookseller's identity and to promote the profession, excluding non-professionals and being clearly engaged in this perspective.

Now, after some years, we have on the web the three "A's" (Amazon, Abebooks and Alibris) and Ebay, dominating internet with huge amounts of books offered both by professionals and private people (and often crooks as well). The problem is that more and more private people are selling directly to other private people in these giant sites, often with unauthorized cut/paste of professional databases.

From now on, we should stop letting big financial groups take hold of the result of our work. Their use of the digital world and their use of non-professionals is the negation of our profession!

In November 2007 they founded a non-profit association in order to create Marelibri.com, a mega search engine, made by independent professional booksellers, where all professionals of the world could be represented, big enough to compete with the three "A's" and Ebay. Our aim is to provide a sales platform for professional booksellers only, where all professionals of the world will be represented. Since January 2008 Marelibri.com is fully functional and already well performing, a simple and efficient tool for the sale of books on the international market. On June 7, 2008 London, we met and spoke about possible cooperation with IOBA, Tomfolio, PBFA and ANTIQVARIAT.net. Some of these sites will join Marelibri very soon. We have also been officially invited to the next ILAB presidents meeting, in order to discuss a possible cooperation between ILAB and Marelibri. Marelibri invites every independent professional site to join our meeting in Madrid, the evening of September 8. But each independent bookseller can do something: join at least one of the sites that are constituting Marelibri. Let's discuss the situation of our profession, let's find solutions. A blog has just put on line on Marelibri in order to give a place where all the professionals in the world can discuss and propose their ideas.
